Assimilated Ozone Field (North Pole)

The image shows the near-real-time variation of the Assimilated Ozone Field over the North Pole on a two-day basis. Measurements derive from SCIAMACHY and are processed at TEMIS (Tropospheric Emission Monitoring Internet Service).

The TM3-DAM model is used to produce global assimilated ozone fields. The model produces global distributions of the total ozone column in Dobson Units(DU). Global distributions are stored with a resolution of 1.25 by 1.25 degree.

Data assimilation is a general technique to combine measurements (which contain observation errors) with models that describe the time evolution of the system.
