To produce this "multitemporal" image, three images
acquired in September 1991 were superimposed upon one another, each in one of the primary
colours. Unexpectedly, instead of a preponderance of greys, all colours were abundantly
present. Over the observation period, considerable changes of surface structure and
moisture took place. On the ground a field study revealed which colour corresponded to
which change: harvested grain shows up in yellow, ground prepared for winter corn red,
potato fields white, corn fields green, meadows dark green, and forests in blue. The
application of this technique for crop classification and monitoring is obvious.
- Multitemporal, artificially coloured image
- Acquired at Fucino on 5 September 1991, 23 September 1991, and
29 September 1991
- Area covered is 55.6 km × 55.6 km.
